NetRef 2.0 Gives Teachers Greater Command of Classroom in Real Time
Influenced by educators, upgraded software maximizes control over student Internet use
DULLES, Va., March 23, 2015 — Teachers and administrators can streamline their classroom Internet management with the streamlined NetRef version 2.0, a fully implemented bridged-mode appliance solution that gives schools the ability to manage and monitor students’ online activities in real-time.
Students can sign in to NetRef 2.0 with their student ID or email. Any electronic devices that are connected to Wi-Fi but are not registered are redirected to the NetRef sign in page or blocked outright.
With NetRef 2.0, teachers gain greater command of the classroom, as the upgraded software offers the option to allow or disallow students to unregister their devices. Students who are not allowed to unregister are redirected to blocked page when they attempt to disengage.
The software upgrades also convey a full functional administrator panel that allows teachers to monitor and control entire classrooms from one screen and include an upgraded graphic interface. The software’s refinements were based on direct feedback from schools participating in the NetRef pilot program.
“NetRef 2.0 helps make teachers’ increasingly complicated responsibility of online supervision even simpler by allowing them to view and modify a student’s web experience in real-time,” said George Dotterer, CEO and co-founder of Verite Educational Systems Inc., a spin-out of Verite Group Inc.
Dotterer helped design NetRef with a team of high-technology experts from Verite Educational Systems, a group of long-time colleagues who are experienced technologists and parents concerned for child Internet safety. They came together to extend their passion and know-how to schools through Verite Educational Systems, which will shepherd new and disruptive Internet management tools to the education technology market.
Easy to use and integrate, NetRef helps educators reduce distractions and maximize technology as a teaching tool, with multi-tiered oversight functionality across the school, in the classroom, and by student. NetRef operates with all web browsers, including Microsoft Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. It also operates with iOS, Android, ChromeBook and Windows-tablets, along with their respective apps.
